Use a map without implying false precision

Location is a claim that needs checking.

Prepare

Identify what the map is meant to show: a route, an approximate region, or a specific location. Verify place names against the source material. Several places can share a name; add the country or region when needed.

Work through the decision

Use coordinates only when their precision is supported. A city-level story does not need a pin on an arbitrary building. Explain approximate boundaries and disputed or changing geography in the editorial context where relevant.

Review the result

Check the map in the exported frame, including labels near the edges. A map that is technically correct can still mislead if the crop hides nearby places needed to understand the story.
